18,630 learners from the 64 Standard Madrasah Curriculum (SMC) Implementers in the entire Bangsamoro Autonomous Region will be receiving
their P5,000.00 subsidy from the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) and the Bangsamoro Government.
This was after the Launching of Subsidy program held Friday, May 7, 2021, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex
Distribution of this cash allowance was originally a program under National Government that was discontinued after BARMM transition. Hence, BARMM, through the Office of the Chief Minister, made way to provide financial assistance for School Year (SY) 2020-2021 and spent over P93M from its contingency fund.
“Sa totoo lang po, hindi ho programa ng MBHTE ang pagbibigay sa inyo ng subsidy. Nationally-funded program ‘yan,” said MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal.
“Programa po ‘yan ng National Government na naitigil. Kaya ang ginawa po natin, dahil kailangan natin maipagpatuloy ang pagbibigay ng subsidies, sinalo po natin,” he added.
Further, he said that there is no assurance that by SY 2021-2022, these private madaris can still receive their subsidies. Minister said that his ministry will include these subsidies to their next budget proposal.
“Mas nanaisin ko pang mabawasan yung ibang aspeto ng budget proposal namin kaysa hindi maisali yung subsidy ng 64 madaris,” he said.
