Three Important Meetings were held in Manila before the Madrasah Partners Forum

1. A pivotal meeting on July 16, 2024, at the DepEd National Office in Manila was presided over by USec. Gina Gonong. The central focus was the discussion of mutual benefits and defining the agreement for DepEd’s Curriculum Division and Directorate General for Madaris Education of MBHTE Barmm. USec. Gina Gonong from DepEd, alongside her team, and MBHTE’s Director General for Madaris Education, Tahir G. Nalg, and Norhaine Candao from DGME’s Program Management Section were present. The collaborative efforts aim to define and solidify this agreement for the advancement of education in the region, marking an exciting progression for all involved.

During the meeting with the DepEd Officials headed by USec. Gina Gonong, PhD held on July 16 at the DepEd Central Office.

2. A recent pivotal meeting held at Dusit Thani Makati on July 17,2024 brought together DepEd, the Australian Government, the Education Pathways to Peace in Mindanao Program (Pathways), and the Directorate General for Madaris Education of MBHTE.

The focus of the meeting centered on in-depth discussions regarding the Madaris Education program in the BARMM region, with a special emphasis on the support from the Australian Government and DepEd. The main goal of the meeting was to listen to the Vision and Goals of DGME Madrasah Education, making it an informal roundtable conversation between DFAT.

Exciting collaborations and initiatives are in the works to further enhance education pathways for peace in Mindanao.

3. A momentous meeting took place among key stakeholders, including DepEd Central, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), and DGME/MBHTE. The primary focus of the discussion was on the potential signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among DepEd Central, Indonesian MORA, and BARMM’s DGME/MBHTE to bolster Indonesian support for Madrasah education in the BARMM region.

Distinguished representatives present at the meeting included Ms. Mildred Zamar from DepEd Central, MORA Secretary Dr. Rohman from Indonesian MORA, and Director General for Madaris Education Tahir G. Nalg from MBHTE held in Dusit Thani on July 17,2024.

Exciting times ahead as collaborative efforts pave the way for enhanced educational opportunities in the region.
